Paris Bleu

I saw this painting on Place du Tertre and loved it immediately because currently I see a lot of blue in Paris.

Waiting for the rain to stop

Currently the weather in Paris is rather unsettled, yesterday I put my sunglasses on, put them off, opened up my umbrella, closed it... and so on...

Yesterday I took a break at the bookshop of "Merci" on Boulevard Beaumarchais.

Dolce Vita

Durig my yesterday´s first walk my eyes were delighted by the colours that the city is offering. Amongst others this red scooter caught my eyes, I like the writing "Dolce Vita" on it.

I arrived to Paris this morning, settled down in "my" studio, had breakfast and now I´m leaving for my first walk around.

Le Village Royal

The "Village Royal", right next to the Madeleine Church, is a quiet street where you can find a couple of upscale shops and a restaurant.

La Fontaine des Quatre Saisons

The "Fontaine des Quatres Saisons" (Fountain of the Four Seasons) is a monumental 18th-century public fountain in Rue de Grenelle. It was executed by Edmé Bouchardon, royal sculptor of King Louis XV, and opened in 1745. The Fountain was the largest and most ornate of the thirty fountains built in Paris in the 18th century to provide drinking water to the city´s residents.

Le Quatorze Juillet

Today is the French National Day - it commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison on 14 July 1789. The anniversary was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation. Last year I was in Paris on 14 July, but neither saw the military parade on the Champs Elysées nor the fireworks in the evening. I really messed this day up...

Summer Equipment

Equipment for children for the summer vacation: a folding chair, a sun shade, buckets, a watering pot... Unfortunately I don´t remember the shop where I took this picture.

Hot in the city

When I was in Paris in July 2010, it was very hot. This father and his son (obviously tourists - look at their shoes) tried to cool down by putting their feet in the fountain at the Palais Royal and then simultanously put on their socks. Click here for the before photo.

Place du Marché Sainte-Catherine

Yesterday I saw the movie "Les petits mouchoirs" (Little White Lies). One scene was shot in a square that I recognized immediately: Place du Marché Sainte-Catherine in the Marais. Click here for the trailer of the movie which I can highly recommend.

Faire la queue

Visiting Paris includes a lot of "faire la queue" (to line up) at the important sights. I think the longest waiting lines are at the Eiffel Tower, that´s why I´ve not yet been able to go to the very top of her. Seeing all those people lined up, I always decided to climb up by foot, but this way I only reached the second floor.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

Last summer, nearly every french girl was wearing this kind of shoes, "les spartiates". I also saw some men wearing them. I´m curious to know which kind of "chaussure" is the must-have of this season.
